Never a dull moment.. Happy 2011!

Hi Guys,

My apologies for not being able to post anything for a while, Mel and I have been thrown back to the dark ages with either limited or no Internet connectivity.  Jesus, what did people do before the Internet?  I certainly don’t know, since I feel cut-off and isolated from the world, sort of like stranded on an island where everyone speaks a language I don’t understand!

Anyways, I hope that everyone had a great and safe new years.  Although the company at New Years on my end was great, the party was a little lacking at the Hilton.  The Hilton tried, and tried but still came up a little short, every time we think that someone has progressed a mile here they actually show us it has been only a metre.  Long story short, the Hilton tried to put on a New Years party (with a western twist), a dinner party in one room, a lounge singer in the lobby (might I add that this was some famous Bollywood singer, with no audience in front of her), and the toast at midnight was at some unknown far away banquet hall that no one could find!  In any case we still rang in the New Years with some Vodka + tonic!

Anyways the trip to Jaipur, Udaipur, and Delhi has been great!  Here are some random pictures from the first part of our Delhi trip, Jaipur and Udaipur:

We did arrive in Orissa to much fan-fare and flowers with about 40 people at the airport.  Mel and I were shell shocked and couldn’t get over the attention.  It was great to see my Grandmother, and I’m looking forward to spending some time with her!  Sadness will become me when Mel leaves in two days, as she is my only link to my sanity from my family!

Hope everyone is doing well, and  by the way Happy New year!

first of all, you are in a land where you don’t understand the language

secondly, just talk to wilson, tom hanks did and found civilization again

thirdly, your trip is about being disconnected and finding ones spirtual self, not drinking spirits by yourself and writing blogs. Probably would be succesful hanging yourself with a self made rope, if you fell off the grid

fourth, its good that Mel is leaving, it will show your resilency, like survivor man, except you have a phone, computer, five star hotels, and a devaluated currency to use where you could find someone to train a monkey to bake a tray of banana muffins and get a baby elephent to feed them to you one by one.

I must say, no surprise, your pictures are absolutely stunning and creative! I’m so looking fwd to seeing the rest!!!

ahh, the greeting of the family at the airport! oh how I would’ve loved to be a little chupkali (lizard) on the wall watching your reaction! I bet Mel handled it better than you did LOL

Be strong Meera! The “unplugged” life might just surprise you! :) Although I must admit, I also feel a bit anxious when I realise that there is no phone/internet connection (that’s what Neo must have felt when he was extracted from the matrix for the first time! lol). Have an amazing time and I can’t wait to see more pix!

I’m beyond excited to hear all about this adventure! This could just be the story of 2011 as Meera (and Milena) makes her triumphant return to North America!

Any plans to kiss the ground when you first land in Toronto?

PS: Just kidding, i hope you continue to experience and enjoy this trip. Like a fine wine i’m sure the memories will only improve with time.

P.S. do not kiss the ground when you comeback… you’ll just get your lips stuck to the ground. :p
